Context Management
Choose what the next request can use, and keep different material sources distinct.
Choose the right entry
| Material | Entry and use |
|---|---|
| A passage for this task | Paste it in the conversation or workshop input. Separate it from the task instructions. |
| A file for this conversation | Add it as a conversation attachment. Check its processing state. |
| A reusable reference | Import into knowledge, then explicitly select it for a conversation. |
| Voice and background | Create a profile and actively reference it when useful. |
| A folder to work in | Select a project folder in Work mode. File permissions remain separate. |
| Saved writing or inspiration | Keep it in the corresponding library; explicitly bring relevant text into the task. |
Add and check a file
Add the intended file
Use the conversation’s attachment entry and choose the file yourself.
Check the name and status
Confirm the correct file appears. A pending or unsupported status means the text may not be available to the model.
Check readable content
When a preview or extracted text is available, check a relevant passage. If it cannot be read, paste the needed text and name its source.
Format and parsing support vary by entry and version. A file icon is not evidence that a scanned document has been recognized or that every sheet and image was read. Follow the processing message rather than the extension alone.
Use knowledge in a conversation
Open Knowledge from the desktop’s content tools, import the reference you want to keep, and check its readable content and processing status. Return to the conversation and use Add from knowledge to select the documents needed for the next request.
A new task does not automatically include the whole library. Adding a conversation attachment does not automatically place it in long-term knowledge. Likewise, saved copy, inspiration, and profiles do not silently become knowledge documents.
Use a profile without inventing facts
A profile records the background and preferences you have supplied. Create or edit it through the profile entry, confirm what should be saved, then actively select the appropriate profile for a content task.
Use my straightforward tone, but use only the facts in these notes for this article. Ask about anything missing.
Your general preference for a conversational tone cannot supply a missing personal experience, customer quote, or measured result. Work mode does not automatically attach a content profile.
Review the source record
Where an answer offers a source record, open it and compare important statements with the relevant material. A source snapshot belongs to that response; changing later selections does not rewrite an earlier response’s record.
A listed source indicates material associated with a response. It does not certify that every sentence is correct.
Before you send
- Is each selected file relevant and readable?
- Are the source text and your instructions clearly separated?
- Does the selected model source match your intended service?
- Have you removed credentials and material you do not want sent?
Selected prompts and context are sent to the configured model service when you make a request. Local storage describes where the workspace is saved, not an offline-generation guarantee.
